Samuel Tulloch Scott, known as Tulloch, was a son of Robert Steele Scott, merchant, and his wife Alice Florence Tulloch. He was born in St Kilda, Victoria, in 1881. In 1903 Tulloch was a farmer at Mineral Banks, in the Ringarooma district. He married Harley Grubb on 15 Oct 1908 at St Peter's Church, St Leonards. Their three children were born at the family home 'Dunedin', St Leonards: Mavis, 1909-1995; Robert, 1914-2000 and Marcia, 1919-2008.
In Oct 1921 Tulloch purchased a Daimler motor car which had been built for him at Jackson's Garage, Launceston. It was one of the finest cars in Australia at the time. Tulloch was a leading breeder of Aberdeen Angus cattle and Merino sheep. He was involved with many organisations: the Northern Tasmanian Home for Boys; Lodge of Hope 4TC; Aberdeen Angus Society; Tasmanian Fine Merino Breeders' Association; Tasmanian Farmers, Stockowners and Orchardists' Association; Tasmanian Turf Club; and the National Agricultural and Pastoral Society.
Tulloch died at a private nursing home on 4 Jun 1961 aged 80. Hundreds of business associates and friends attended the service at the Carr Villa Crematoriam Chapel, which was followed by a private family service at 'Dunedin'. Tulloch's wife Harley died on 13 May 1964, also aged 80.
