Emma Rooke was born on 16 Jul 1845, the fourth child of Adolphus Frederick Rooke (1815-1881) and his first wife Susan Kinder Archer (1812-1860) who were married on 13 Mar 1838. Her father was a brewer, farmer and member of the House of Assembly from Deloraine. Her mother died when Emma was 14 years old and her father married Maria Butler three years later.
Emma married her cousin Henry Rooke on 5 Nov 1892 at Deloraine. Her future husband had moved to Launceston in 1873 and by the time of the Exhibition he was a member of the Legislative Council for North Esk and a partner in the firm Rooke & McKenzie, mining and commission agents. In Nov 1891, at the Exhibition Mayor's Lunch, Henry proposed a toast to the Governor of Victoria. Emma and Henry did not have any children. Henry died aged about 56 on 28 Nov 1901 and Emma died aged 91 on 22 Mar 1936. She was buried at Carr Villa in the Anglican Section B11 No. 52.
