Elisabeth Nora (Lily) Murnane was born on 25 Jul 1869, the youngest of ten children of Edward Murnane (c.1826-1911), publican at the Queens Arms Hotel, Longford, and his wife Catherine Mahoney (c.1829-1897). Lily was an alto in the Exhibition Choir in 1891-92. She married George Chalmers Abbott Archer, a bank clerk, son of Thomas Chalmers and Louisa Kate Archer of 'Woolmers', Longford. The wedding took place on 24 Feb 1892 at St Augustine's Catholic Church, Longford and was conducted by the Rev. JJ McKernan.
Lily and George had eight children, including twins George and Kate who were born at Latrobe in 1893. John was also born on the North-West Coast, then the family moved to Launceston by 1898 when Thomas was born. The youngest child, Elizabeth, died aged three months in Feb 1910. Lily died on 5 Jan 1923 at her residence in Mayne Street, Invermay, and was buried at Carr Villa in Section A No. 16. Her husband George died aged 72 on 28 Oct 1936 and was buried with Lily.
