Ernest William Little was born in Launceston on 25 Mar 1877, the eldest of 13 children born to Joseph Little (1857-1909), a grocer, and Ada Mary Gee (1856-1945) who were married in 1876. Ernest's brother Charles and aunts Emma and Kate Gee are also pictured in the Family Album.
