This is possibly Ernest Hope Lee who was born in Hobart on 3 Aug 1871, the third child of Thomas Lee and Eliza Carter who were married in Launceston on 12 Nov 1864. Ernest's brother William Thomas Lee (born 1867) also appears in the Family Album. They also had a sister Edith Caroline Hope Lee (born 1865).

Ernest married Alice Kate Jordan on 1 Jun 1898 in Launceston. Their children were all born at 99 Howick Street, Launceston: Ernest Keith, on 27 Mar 1901; Leonard Jack, 7 Jun 1903; Henry James, 7 Apr 1907; and Mollie Hope, 7 Nov 1910.

At the time of the Exhibition Ernest Hope Lee was living in Margaret Street, Launceston. He died in the General Hospital Launceston on 21 Aug 1919 at the age of 47 and is buried at Carr Villa.
