Hugh Law was born on 19 Jun 1884 in Launceston, Tasmania, the only son of Frederic Law (1856-1944) and his wife Elizabeth Edginton. Hugh had four sisters: Eileen, Ethel, Frieda and Beverley. In 1893 Hugh was in the junior class of Martin Cheek at the Launceston High School, Milton Hall. He was employed in his father's business, Law, Duncan & Co. and had an orchard at Hillwood on the East Tamar. He and his wife Rose (1884-1964) lived at 27 Lyttleton Street, Launceston. The did not have any children. Hugh died on 30 Aug 1967. See The Examiner 11 Mar 2006, p. 32.
