Frederic Samuel Law was born in Launceston on 10 Oct 1856, the third son of Rev. William Law (1827-1907) and his wife Sarah Hawley (1826-1899). He married Elizabeth Edginton on 5 Jan 1882 in Launceston. He was a partner in Law, Duncan & Co., wholesale grocers and produce merchants, Launceston. He owned an orchard at Hillwood. Of his five children, Hugh and Frieda were the only ones to marry. Frieda married Thomas Clifton Hague in 1916 and had three children: Peter, Terry and Judith. Frederic died 17 Sep 1944 aged 87 years and is buried at the Carr Villa Cemetery with his wife Elizabeth who had died 9 Aug 1939. They are buried in Section E No. 22.
