Mrs Mary Laredo was born about 1860, the eldest child of John McMahon and his wife Catherine Daly of Bedford Street, Inveresk. Her parents were married in Launceston on 14 Feb 1859. Mary married Epaminondas Laredo (or Larado) on 11 Jul 1888 at the Church of the Apostles, Launceston. He was the second son of Epaminondas Laurence Laredo of Deloraine, who was born in Mexico about 1813 and married Catherine Galvin on 20 Nov 1854.
Mary and her husband had four children. The first two were born in Launceston: Cyril Francis in Jun 1889 and Mary Alocoque in Mar 1891. John Epaminondas was born in 1893 at Waratah, and Joseph Emanuel in 1895 in Launceston. Mrs Laredo was a soprano in the Exhibition Choir in 1891-92, together with two of her younger sisters, Margaret and Annie McMahon. Mary was in South Africa when her sister Annie died in Oct 1911.
