Edith Elizabeth King was the elder daughter of John King and Louisa Burke, nee Blake, who were married in Victoria in 1872. Edith was born in North Melbourne, Victoria, on 11 Dec 1873 and moved to Launceston with her family as a young child. They appear to have returned to Victoria as her mother died there in 1892.
Edith married Charles Gerard Tabart in Yarrawonga, Victoria, in 1896. Charles was one of the Tabart family from 'Fonthill'. Their eldest child, Vernon Gerard, was born in 1896 and daughter, Frances Jean, was born in 1898. Charles was on the staff of the Bank of Australasia at Albury, NSW, when in May 1904, at the age of 33, he shot himself leaving Edith a widow with two young children. Vernon also died in Albury in 1904. Edith then moved to Yarrawonga where Llewellyn was born on 20 Oct 1904, five months after the death of his father. Edith Tabart died aged 87 on 3 May 1961 at San Remo.
Edith's father John, sister Amy Louisa King and Charles Tabart also appear in the Launceston Family Album.
