Alexander Kidd was born in Scotland on 12 Aug 1843, a son of Alexander Kidd, a cabinet-maker. Alexander junior married Emily Mary Smith on 17 Aug 1873 in Launceston. They were strong supporters of Christ Church Congregational and in 1906 Alexander junior, a carpenter, carved the base for the pulpit which his father had previously carved. Alexander sang in the Bass section of the Tasmanian Exhibition Choir in 1891-92.
Alexander and Emily were living with their daughter Emily Strike when they died, Emily on 5 Nov 1923 and Alexander on 9 Sep 1925. They were buried together at the Carr Villa in Section E 27. Alexander's wife and two surviving children, Robert and Emily, are also pictured in the Launceston Family Album.
