Mrs Ann Sarah Kenworthy, the daughter of shoemaker Abraham Kenworthy and Anne Presnell was born in England on 3 Mar 1827 and christened in Hobart on 25 Apr 1830. The family had arrived in Tasmania on the Wanstead on 20 Apr 1828. Ann Sarah married Robert Kenworthy in Hobart on 1 May 1847 at 21 years of age. Ann and Robert had 14 children (Henry, Emily, Alice, Louisa, John, Lavinia, Laura, Amelia, Robert Stephens, Rosina, Albert, an unnamed girl, Florence and Ernest) between 1848 and 1872 but only seven survived to adulthood. The family moved to Launceston about 1854 where Robert was the business manager of Page's Coach Service.
Ann sang in the Tasmanian Exhibition Choir of 1891-92 as a soprano along with a daughter. Another daughter was an alto, while her husband and two sons sang with the bass section. Robert, Emily, Rosina and Ernest are also pictured in the Family Album. Ann's address at the time of the Exhibition was 67 Balfour St. Her husband Robert died aged 68 on 29 Jul 1892, soon after the Exhibition ended. Ann was buried at the Charles Street Cemetery on 8 Jun 1910, aged 83. See The Examiner 2 Dec 2006.
