Rosina Kenworthy was born on 3 Jul 1864, the tenth child born to Robert Kenworthy and his wife Ann Sarah Presnell. She was clever with her hands as she exhibited a table top and panel door decorated in oils and a wattle blossom work on a velvet frame at the Tasmanian Exhibition of 1891-92. She also sang in the Exhibition Choir.
Rosina married Robert Brett, from Christchurch, New Zealand, on 1 Mar 1893 in Launceston. He was an operator at the local telegraph office. Rosina and Robert had three children: Robert, 1898-1975; Gwendoline, 1901-1989, married Edward Harry Goodger and Rosina, 1903-1985, married Roy Tidey. Rosina died on 19 Jun 1903, just 11 days after the birth of her third child. She was buried at the Charles Street Cemetery but was moved to Carr Villa in 1923. The children were brought up by Rosina's sister Amelia Burrows and her husband Alfred Edward Burrows, a photographer. Robert married twice more: to Clara Isabel Ward in 1909 and Clara Mercy Paine in 1916. He died on his daughter Rosina's 19th birthday in 1922. See The Examiner 2 Dec 2006.
