Ernest McGlashon Kenworthy was born on 3 Nov 1872, the youngest of 14 children born to Robert Kenworthy (1824-1892) and his wife Ann Sarah Presnell (1827-1910). He married Lilian Wise on 6 Aug 1895 in Launceston. Their first child Iris died as a baby; Rowland married Milicent Wheldon in 1924 and Clive died aged 18 in 1921. Ernest senior died when Clive was only four years old, on 18 Apr 1907, aged 34. He was buried at the Charles Street Cemetery with his parents, sister Emily and daughter Iris.
