Mary Constance Halstead was born in Perth, Tasmania, on 23 Nov 1871, the sixth daughter of Robert Halstead (c.1826-1873) and his wife Eleanor Dinah Macmichael (1834-1920). She married her first cousin Christopher Smeaton Halstead Allanby on 16 Apr 1901 at St David's Cathedral, Hobart. Her three sons were all given Halstead as their middle name. Mary Allanby died at 'Homedale', Bream Creek, near Copping, Tasmania, on 6 Feb 1959.
