Elizabeth Gutteridge was born on 30 Nov 1869, the ninth of fourteen children of James Gutteridge (1823-1892) and his second wife Emma Abbott (1837-1915). Elizabeth was born in Breadalbane, Tasmania. Her father was a storekeeper when she was christened in 1870. Elizabeth married Samuel William Turner in St Peter's Church, Lymington (now Nile) on 19 Apr 1897, the same day as her sister Emma married Alexander Morris. Samuel was a farmer at 'Camperdown', Nile, then at Osmaston near Westbury and later at Newnham.
Elizabeth and Samuel had five children: Walter was born at Evandale in 1898; Hilda 1900 and Maida 1902 at Nile; Leonard 1907 and Lancelot 1913 at Osmaston. After the death of Samuel on 13 Mar 1936, Elizabeth moved to Melbourne in 1938. She died on 28 May 1942 at Box Hill, Victoria. Her sisters Maria and Jane are also pictured in this Album.
