Lilian Rosa Gurr was born on 7 Jul 1869, the fourth daughter of William Gurr, ironmonger, and his wife Mary Elizabeth Bellion. Two of her sisters, Martha (Pattie) and Elsie Gurr, also are pictured in the Family Album. Lilian was an alto in the Exhibition Choir in 1891-92 and exhibited two crayon drawings with her sister Elsie. Their mother ME Gurr exhibited a 'Group of flowers' painted on ground glass, in oils.
Lilian married Charles Ernest Nicholls, a clerk, at the Tamar Street Congregational Church, Launceston, on 16 Mar 1892. Charles was the eldest son of Charles and Mercy Nicholls of Camberwell, Victoria. The couple had four children and 10 grandchildren. Their youngest daughter Ailsa Lilian was born in Perth, Western Australia, in 1900. Lilian was a Pioneer Member of the Women's Guild. She died aged 76 on 5 Jul 1946 at Subiaco, Western Australia.
