Mrs Mary Greig was born in Launceston on 8 Jul 1842, the second child of John Craig, storekeeper at Longford (c.1808-1858) and Margaret Ross (1820-1898) who were married on 16 Jun 1840. Mary's father died when she was 16 and her mother married twice more, first to Alexander Main on 6 Dec 1859 and then after his death to Patrick Bentley on 20 Aug 1884.
At Longford on 29 Oct 1860, 18-year-old Mary Craig married George Greig (1834-1899). They had eleven children between 1861 and 1881; three died young. George was a cousin of Charles Grace Greig who is also in the Family Album. George died aged 65 on 3 Aug 1899 and Mary passed away aged 61 on 25 Nov 1903. They were both interred in the Christ Church graveyard in Longford.
