Frances Elizabeth Green was born in Launceston on 13 Feb 1840, the only daughter of Richard Green (1808-1878), a wealthy businessman, and Hannah Jackson (1810-1904). Her parents had arrived in Tasmania with Dr Mathias Gaunt and family in May 1831. They initially settled at Windermere, but were married in Launceston in May 1835. Frances was the third child of the marriage; she had six brothers. Two of these, Alfred and Arthur, are also in the Album. In 1857 Frances visited England with her parents. She did not marry and died in Melbourne on 6 Apr 1905. Her remains were brought back to Launceston as her funeral left her late residence in Cimitiere Street for burial in the Cypress Street Cemetery. See The Examiner 29 Apr 2006, p.30.
