Eleanor Frances Amy Barnard, known as Amy, was born on 20 Nov 1871. She was the second child of Downes Martin Barnard (1842-1918) and his wife Emma Jane Phipps (1841-1921). Downes Martin was the eldest son of the Government Printer James Barnard (1809-1897) and Charlotte Fox (1814-1898). Amy was named after her father's younger sister who died when she was three years old.

In 1886 she was a foundation student of the Methodist Ladies College, Elphin Road, Launceston, and was presented with a prize for arithmetic at the end-of-year speech day. She exhibited several paintings in the Tasmanian Court at the Tasmanian Exhibition of 1891-92. Amy died unmarried at a private hospital on 16 Sep 1939 aged 71. Her residence at the time was 19 Hornsey Avenue, East Launceston. She was buried at the Carr Villa Cemetery Section B1 No. 140. Four of her brothers and sisters are also pictured in the Family Album.
